Sierra Madre Police Blotter

During the week of Sunday, October 18th, to October 24th, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 273 calls for service.

Sunday, October 18th

3:33 PM- Arrest, Stolen Vehicle, Foothill Blvd/Michillinda Ave. An officer stopped a motorcyclist for a Vehicle Code violation.  While speaking to the driver and passenger, the officer saw that the motorcycle’s ignition was punched out.  The driver and passenger gave conflicting statements about the ownership of the motorcycle, and could not provide proof of ownership and could not explain why they had the motorcycle.  Both the driver and passenger were arrested for suspicion of motorcycle theft.  LAPD officers later confirmed with the owner of the motorcycle that it had been stolen hours earlier in Hollywood. 

Monday, October 19th

11:41 AM- Residential Burglary, 500 block Santa Anita Ct. Unknown suspects entered the residence while the homeowner was sleeping inside her bedroom.  Entry into the residence was made through a rear door that leads into the kitchen.  Once inside, the suspects removed a dime slot machine from the dining room and left through the front door.  The suspects were described as three male Hispanics, 25-30 years old, last seen driving a grey Toyota Camry westbound on Santa Anita Court. 

Tuesday, October 20th

11:59 AM-Commercial Burglary, 50 block West Sierra Madre Blvd.  A male suspect entered a liquor store and took two 1.75L bottles of "Grey Goose" vodka.  The suspect then ran out of the store without paying for the vodka.  The incident was caught on video surveillance camera.  Total loss was estimated at $140.00.  A crime bulletin was sent out to surrounding police departments.  At this time, the suspects are still at large.

Wednesday October 21st

12:08 AM – Arrest, Driving on a suspended/revoked driver’s license.  Baldwin Ave/ Hampton Ave.  An officer stopped a motorist for a Vehicle Code violation.  Further investigation revealed the motorist was driving on a suspended/revoked driver’s license.  The motorist was arrested for the misdemeanor violation and released in the field on a written promise to appear.

3:15 AM-Vandalism, 100 block East Sierra Madre Blvd.  The reporting party called the police department to report that unknown subjects shattered the rear window of his vehicle.  No personal belongings were taken from the vehicle and no other damage was reported.  There is no suspect information.

Friday, October 23rd

1:02 AM- Vehicle Burglary, Windsor Lane/Sierra Madre Blvd. The reporting party flagged down an officer to report that unknown suspects broke the passenger side window of his vehicle and took a black briefcase, a passport, checkbook, and house keys from inside.  The loss is approximately $120.00.  There is no suspect information.

11:25 PM- Arrest, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Sierra Madre Blvd/Mountain Trail Ave. A man called the police regarding a possible intoxicated driver. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver failed the field sobriety tests.  The driver was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and transported to the Sierra Madre Police Department for a breath test.  The arrestee was later transported to the Pasadena Police Department Jail for remand.
