I see by the papers that the EIR for the Caruso center was not satisfactory. I doubt this was a surprise to anyone. I, for one, do not believe the Caruso plan is in the best interests of Arcadia. Of course the tax revenue would be great, but there comes a time when money is not the most important thing in the world. This piece of land is unquestionably one of the jewels of the city. To me, it is unthinkable for it to be owned by anybody but the citizens of Arcadia ( this assumes the owner wishes to sell it wishes to make an investment in an entertainmen/shopping center) But no matter what the price of the land is, I believe we citizens should own it. Certainly we can develop it in a way that would be most beneficial to us all. Please don’t tell me it is too expensive. It’s a bargain at any price. Will Rogers once said, “Buy real estate; there will never be more of it.”
