During the Great Depression, apparently there were 100 people who committed suicide off the bridge, nickname “Suicide Bridge.” These days, the restored bridge is a minor thoroughfare and nice pedestrian stroll, with romantic street lamps and great views of the Rose Bowl to the north. Each summer, the architectural landmark is the site of the Celebration on the Colorado Street Bridge, an evening of food and entertainment .
The historic Colorado Street Bridge will be host to thousands this Saturday. The Colorado Street Bridge is known as one of the most beautiful bridges in the world and each year Pasadena Heritage helps raise funds for its preservation and other activities to promote preservation of historic sites in Pasadena.
