Arcadia Police Blotter
For the period of Sunday, April 27, through Saturday, May 3, the Arcadia Police Department responded to 918 calls for service, of which 129 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, April 27:
Shortly after 8 a.m., units were dispatched to First and Huntington regarding a male transient who appeared to be unconscious in the alley. Officers located the individual sitting next to a cart filled with about 40 bottles of expensive bottled liquor. The 51-year-old Caucasian transient kept changing his story as to how he came in possession of the alcohol, so he was arrested for receiving stolen property.
Between 6:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., a residential burglary occurred in the 1500 block of South First. Unknown suspect(s) entered the house through an unlocked slider and then ransacked rooms and took cash and boxes of checks.
Monday, April 28:
An armed robbery occurred at Le Bouquet Studio, 1007 North Santa Anita, around 3 p.m. Two female Hispanic suspects, around 25 and 35 years of age, entered the flower shop and ordered a bouquet of flowers. After the owner made up the arrangement, one suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money from the register. Fearing for her safety, the victim gave cash to the suspects and they also fled with the bouquet of flowers.
Around 6:36 p.m., units responded to Nordstrom regarding a man detained for theft. The 52-year-old man entered the store with two empty shopping bags, one from Nordstrom and the other from JC Penney. He took two women’s robes, two men’s shirts, and several men’s cologne testers, placed them in the shopping bags, and left the store without making payment. A private person’s arrest was made, and the man was taken into custody for commercial burglary.
Tuesday, April 29:
A commercial burglary occurred between midnight on April 27 and 9:16 a.m. on April 29 at Drive-In-Liquor, 10 East Huntington. Unknown suspect(s) smashed out a window to a storage area and took 35 to 40 bottles of alcohol. After this report, officers realized that they had recovered the liquor bottles from a transient who was arrested for receiving stolen property on April 27.
A bank robbery occurred at HSBC Bank, 1107 South Baldwin, around 4:20 p.m. A male Hispanic suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a filtration mask and gloves entered the bank and requested change for a five dollar bill. He indicated that he was wearing the outfit because he was an electrician working on some lights outside. He then displayed a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the teller’s cash drawer. The teller handed over the money, and the suspect fled the scene.
Wednesday, April 30:
Around 10:02 a.m., a victim came to the station to file an identity theft report. Unknown suspect(s) obtained the victim’s Chevron credit card information by unknown means, cloned the card, and charged $170 for diesel fuel in South Gate.
Officers were called to KB Toys located at Westfield mall around 12:34 p.m. regarding an embezzlement and grand theft case. The loss prevention manager indicated that a former assistant manager, a 26-year-old female Hispanic, failed to make 6 bank deposits from stores sales and kept about $7,200 for herself.
Thursday, May 1:
Two residential burglaries, one in the 100 block of West Floral and another in the 200 block of Hacienda, occurred in the City between 8 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. In both cases, unknown suspect(s) entered the homes by breaking or removing the glass inserts of the doors. Once the glass was removed, the suspect(s) reached inside and unlocked the doors. The suspect(s) ransacked rooms and took an unknown amount of property.
Around 3:50 p.m., units responded to the 900 block of North Santa Anita in reference to a man threatening to burn his neighbor’s house. Officers contacted the 43-year-old Caucasian and his speech was slurred and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his breath and person. The man was arrested at the scene for making terrorist threats.
Friday, May 2:
A grand theft was reported at the Arboretum, 301 South Baldwin, around 12:50 p.m. The victim left a camera at her craft display table to help a customer and later returned to find that someone had stolen the $550 Pentax.
At 7:55 p.m., units were dispatched to the 388 Torrey Pines regarding a hit-and-run traffic accident. An unknown driver struck a fire hydrant, shearing it from its foundation, and then fled the scene. Public Works was notified to shut off the water supply.
Saturday, May 3:
Around 12:20 a.m., a commercial burglary occurred at Sports Chiropractic Center, 131 East Huntington. Two male suspects broke a window to enter the business and then took a large flat panel television. A witness saw the suspects carrying the stolen television to a 1995 black Honda Accord that was driven by a third suspect. The witness chased after the suspects who then dropped the television in the roadway and fled the scene. Officers conducted an area search, but the suspects were not found.
Loss prevention personnel from Nordstrom advised that they had detained a woman for theft around 4:35 p.m. The woman was seen taking a $1,800 designer purse from a display rack, hung it to her baby stroller, and left the store. A private person’s arrest was made, and the 33-year-old Hispanic was taken into custody for grand theft. After she was detained, another stolen purse and a pair of jeans were also recovered.

Sierra Madre Police Blotter
During the week of Sunday, April 27th, to Saturday May 3rd, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 193 calls for service.
Sunday, April 27:
6:39 a.m. – Residential burglary, 300 block E. Sierra Madre Blvd. The suspect(s) entered the home through the back door. There were no signs of forced entry. The crime occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Sunday, 4/27. The loss included of a Samsung Blue Ray Disc Player and a 52 inch Sharp television. The value was estimated at $3,700.
5:23 a.m. – Arrest, 200 block E. Sierra Madre Blvd. A fight between two drivers led to both being arrested. A female driver was arrested for battery and the male driver was arrested for possession of cocaine. His passenger was arrested for two outstanding warrants. All parties were transported to the Pasadena jail for remand.
Tuesday, April 29:
2:54 a.m. – Arrest, Foothill Blvd. and Rosemead Blvd. A motorist was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Pasadena jail for remand.
Wednesday, April 30:
10:13 p.m. – Arrest, Michillinda Ave. and Sierra Madre Blvd. A car was stopped for a minor traffic violation. A records check revealed the driver’s license was suspended/revoked. The driver was arrested and released on a written promise to appear.
11:52 p.m. – Arrest, 100 block S. Michillinda Ave. A car was stopped for speeding. A records check revealed his license was suspended/revoked. The Pasadena resident was issued a citation and released on a written promise to appear for driving on a suspended driver’s license.
Thursday, May 1:
6:51 a.m. – Auto burglary, 100 block E. Highland Ave. The suspect(s) smashed the passenger window of a car and took the owner’s purse, driver’s license and $300 cash. The crime occurred between 8 p.m. Wednesday, 4/30, and 6:30 a.m. Thursday, 5/1.
9:33 a.m. – Attempted residential burglary, 100 block Coburn Ave. Several glass louvers were removed from the living room window. The crime occurred between 8 p.m. Friday, 4/25 and 8:45 a.m. Thursday, 5/1.
Friday, May 2:
8:43 a.m. – Residential burglary, 200 block East Orange Grove Ave. The bathroom window was broken and the suspect(s) entered the home and ransacked the master bedroom. The crime occurred between 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Thursday, 5/1. There was no loss.
9:04 p.m. – Arrest, 3800 block Arboleda Ave., Pasadena. A motorist was stopped for speeding. A records check revealed his license was suspended/revoked. The Montclair resident was issued a citation for speeding and released in the field on a written promise to appear for driving on a suspended driver’s license.
