Death of Kenneth Lynn Meyer, Jr.

MEYER – Kenneth Lynn Meyer Jr. of Monrovia, born May 22, 1964, was killed in an ATV accident Friday, February 15, 2008.  Survived by his wife, Kelly, of 22 years; daughters Hannah (16) and Madelynn (11); father, Kenneth (Pam) Meyer Sr.; mother Carol (Ron) Stone; brother, Steven (Cassandra) Meyer; brother, Jason Stone; sister, Nicole (Humberto) Macias; grandfather, Jaime Day; mother-in-law, Ann Garner; sister/brother-in-law, Tracy and Jeff Thompson; seven nephews and three nieces.  Preceded in death by twin sisters, Tiffany and Shelby Meyer, and father-in-law Oliver Garner.
After high school, Ken enlisted in the US Army 82nd Airbourne in Fayetteville, N.C., after that he and Kelly lived in Vicenza, Italy, where he was assigned to the 3/325 Airbourne Battalion Combat Team from 1986-1989.

For the past 15 years Ken was employed by the City of Monterey Park as the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.  Ken spent most of his free time managing, coaching and as the president of the Sierra Madre Girls Softball Association (www.SMGSA.org).  Ken and his family enjoyed camping, traveling to Hawaii, off roading, and softball.
A memorial will be held to honor Ken’s life on Saturday, February 23rd, at 11 a.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church 512 W. Duarte Rd., Arcadia, CA 91006. It was Ken’s desire that his life be celebrated luau style, so please honor is wishes by wearing casual Hawaiian attire. A scholarship fund has been created for Hannah and Madelynn by the SMGSA at Washington Mutual, 25 Kersting Court, Sierra Madre, CA 91024, Make checks to “The Meyer Family,” account number 357-420903-3.
